Lilly For Target Jumpsuit

I'm loving rompers and jumpsuits these days, and this Lilly Pulitzer for Target number is one of my favorites. It won't be in season for much longer (like, at all), so I'm squeezing the most out of it that I possibly can! I love navy, and this jumpsuit is so versatile. It can be dressed up like I did here with strappy heels, and it can also be a great casual look for day with sandals. Plus, it's SOOO comfy!

Green clutch options here and here / Shoes / Necklace

Of course you know the Lilly Pulitzer for Target items are long gone, but I found a few I really like that are linked below.

Wednesday Wish List - Back to School for Grown-Ups!

The back-to-school grind can be so overwhelming! New clothes, shoes, and school supplies for the kids, getting back into a normal routine with earlier bedtimes, trying to manage hectic schedules. But I look at this time of year as a new beginning, and I love kind of "starting over", and getting organized. Back-to-school shopping doesn't have to be just for kids! For me, I love organizing my desk area, which means new supplies, and I'm a sucker for planners and notebooks! I put together some items that are on my list to help streamline our routine. Many of these are from Target (surprised?) - Nate Berkus has a super cute collection. And of course there's a fair amount of Kate Spade thrown in if we're talking planners.

Summer Scarves

Scarves are one of my absolute favorite accessories, and they're not just for winter! Granted, living in Las Vegas where it gets up to 115 degrees in the summer it can be a hard trend to wear, but on vacation in Colorado it's much more comfortable. This floral scarf is one of my favorites.

Tshirt Dress - similar here / Scarf - old (option here) / Converse / Sunglasses / Earrings - similar here / Bracelets / Lipstick

Lightweight fabrics, colorful and floral patterns, there's lots of options to keep your scarf game strong during the warmer months. I started my online search on Target's website, and guess what? I didn't make it any farther! Target is my favorite place to pick up fun little pieces here and there, and you cannot beat the prices. So many cute scarves....it was really hard to narrow it down to just a few favorites. Here are some of the options I've got my eye on!

Lilly for Target Love

So, I braved Target this morning for the Lilly Pulitzer for Target Collection. I didn't attempt the online thing last night, which I kind of regret. My mom was able to get a few items that way. I got up early and planned to get to the store about 15 minutes before they opened, thinking that this being Vegas and not somewhere Southern, there wouldn't be a crowd. As I was getting ready I was scrolling my instagram feed, and suddenly me plans changed. The pictures people were posting of lines wrapped around buildings, empty clothing racks, and crazy crowds of people made me nervous, so I decided to go ahead and head out.

I got to my Target an hour before opening, and there was not a person to be seen. Only a few cars were in the lot, belonging to employees. Awesome! I was so excited! I just thought I'd sit in my car for a while and casually stroll in and have my pick of the loot.

A little bit later I noticed that a couple of people had arrived and were waiting outside the door, so I went ahead and joined them. We were soon joined by a few more, but it was still only a group of half a dozen or so. Everyone was so friendly, and we all chatted about the crazy stories we had already seen online about the madness in other areas, and everyone agreed that we were civilized people, and there would be no pushing, grabbing, or hoarding. This wasn't going to be so bad!

Well, about 5-10 minutes before the store was scheduled to open the masses started to show up. All of a sudden there was a line all the way across the front of the store. Now I was starting to get really nervous. You could feel everyone's excitement, and I wasn't so sure my little group of "civilized" early birds were being joined by people of the same mindset.

Let me just say, that I love a bargain, and I'll go out of my way to get one. But I don't do Black Friday, or sample sales, or anything like that. I'm just not cut out for that kind of thing - I'm too timid. Hence my nerves this morning. I knew there was no way I was getting a dress if someone was actually going to grab it out of my hands. Do things like that really happen? I haven't witnessed it, and I was still optimistic.

When they unlocked the doors at Target we all filed in. No one was running, but we were walking VERY fast! I made a beeline straight for the women's clothing. It wouldn't have been that bad, but leave it to one bad apple (or a few) to ruin it for everyone else. One (very mean!) lady pushed past everyone in her path to get to the racks of clothes, grabbed literally everything she could hold, and took off. Everyone was stunned. I don't know why - we totally should have expected this kind of behavior. But experiencing it in person is just so much different. A couple of women asked her if she was seriously going to take all of it, and she didn't even make eye contact or say a word to anyone. You don't need 3 of the same dress in every size. Really. We know you're just going to go sell them on eBay for 5 times the price Target is charging. Way to ruin it for the rest of us, lady. I just can't even.

So I grabbed a couple of things in my size (there were only a couple left), and wandered over to the girl's section. Not much left there, but I was able to grab one jumper in Mason's size. Now on to the home section. The plates I had my eye on were gone, as were the trays, but no biggie. Because after the HORRIBLE  lady almost ruining my faith in people, the rest of my shopping trip restored it. There was a camaraderie between all these women I met in line, and everyone was sharing, and trading, and just really trying to help each other out and be NICE to one another. I loved it! The Lilly fans in Las Vegas are fantastic!

So, in the end I only got a few things, despite being one of the first people through the door. Like I said, I'm just not cut out for cutthroat shopping! My mom made the trip in her neck of the woods and got more stuff than I did, plus was able to score a few items online early this morning. Between the two of us we did OK! There were plenty of other goodies that I REALLY wanted, but the fact that we got anything at all makes me happy! Here's our haul.......

So, when the next Target collaboration happens, will I try again? Well.....maybe. Depends on the designer! :) Were y'all able to snag any Lilly? Any good stories to tell?

OBSESSED With the Lilly Pulitzer Collection for Target!!!

I love when designer do affordable collections for Target, my favorite store in the world! When I found out about the most recent collaboration with Lilly Pulitzer I was SOOOO excited! Then I saw the pieces, and Oh. My. Gosh. I'll take one of everything please! The bright colors and fun patterns are just perfect for spring and summer. The women's collection is full of comfy dresses, jumpsuits, and cover ups among other things. There's also precious items for little girls! Literally, the most adorable things ever. If that wasn''t enough to fill your cart, there are some amazing home decor items as well. I will be there bright and early when this collection launches on April 19th!

Here are some of my must haves. It seems like a lot, but it was actually really hard to edit my favorites!

You can preview the entire collection here. I am seriously dying over the Kelley green and navy blue patterns, and aren't you loving all the cute rompers?  I have no idea how I'm going to choose which items to buy. What Lilly for Target pieces are on your list?

Camo Cubed

It's starting to warm up here in Las Vegas, and as excited as I am for the spring weather, I will miss my sweaters and boots! One of my absolute favorite items this season was a camo elbow patch sweater I found in the men's department in Target. It definitely got more than it's share of wear that's for sure! Here are a few of my favorite stylings.

Glam Camo

Please disregard the messy hair. It gets windy in the desert :).  Anyway, I love the idea of  pairing something as casual as camo print with more dressy pieces. I think it's super cute, and totally unexpected. My favorite part of this outfit is the gold tassel necklace from Purple Peridot. They have the cutest stuff!

Black skirt: similar / Black boots: H&M (similar here) / Clutch: Charming Charlie / Tassel Lariat Necklace: Purple Peridot / Earrings and Bracelet: Charming Charlie

Preppy Camo

I kind of loved this outfit! Target head to toe, except the shoes which are a T.J. Maxx find from last year. I love the girly color of the pants and fun glitter loafers with the more masculine camouflage.

Shirt: similar / Skinnies: similar / Shoes: similar

Casual Camo

It doesn't get much easier than this outfit! So comfy! Just throw on jeans and some combat boots and you're done!

Boots: / Madden Girl / Necklace: / Belle & Grace

Unfortunately, this sweater is no longer available at Target, but here are a couple of similar styles here and here.
Also, I know, I shop at Target way too much! It's not only a budget thing, it's also a matter of convenience. I'm there all the time, so it just makes sense! And while Vegas has amazing shopping, most of it is on or near the strip, and I tend to stay away unless from that area unless I have good reason to be there. When the Shops at Summerlin open my options will open up too! Can't wait for that!

My Favorite Fur Vest.....Twice!

I am so in love with the fur vest trend! I would love to have several versions! Sadly, I only own one. It's from H&M a couple of years ago, and it's most definitely in the regular rotation in my wardrobe. You can wear it so many different ways! I decided to show you two that are polar opposites of each other.

This is one of my favorite outfits ever! This was kind of a last minute had to throw something on, and it ended up being super cute. I love it when outfits work out that way! This was perfect for a dinner out.

My FAV Aztec Print Cardi

I'm always looking for new ways to put together the items that are already in my closet, especially my favorites. This outfit combined three of my most worn pieces that I had never actually put together before! I'm absolutely in love with this Aztec cardigan. I wish I could wear it everyday! It's so soft and comfy, and seems to go with everything. And who doesn't love a denim shirt? I'm partial to these wine colored skinnies because they fit so well, and duh, they're maroon! Gig 'em Ags! Love representing my alma mater, even when it's not football season. :)

I added some army green booties, a fun statement necklace, and of course some arm candy to complete this look.

Totally got photo bombed by the neighbors cat!

Camo and (faux) Leather

Quick outfit post......I've been searching for some leather look leggings forever. For a trend that seems to be everywhere, it certainly was way harder than I thought it would be to get my hands on some that worked on me. I searched high and low and tried on more pairs than I can count, and started to feel pretty ridiculous. Finally this pair from Forever 21 was the winner!

Seems like every store has their version of the leather legging. My first criteria was price (girl on a budget!). I didn't even try on the expensive ones. I'm always extremely budget conscious, but for this particular item especially, because I really wasn't sure how often I would wear them, or even IF I would end up wearing them at all. I've been a little iffy on this look. I absolutely LOVE it on other people, but wasn't sure how it would translate to my life of school drop off and dance class with Mason. So no way was I going to spend money on something I was going to chicken out on and not wear.

Second there was the issue of fit. I always have a hard time finding pants that fit well. Leggings are usually super easy though, right? But with these, the waist was huge on a lot, while the legs fit fine. Or they gaped behind the knees (BIG no no with leggings!). Or they had random zippers, which I can't really get on board with. The biggest problem though seemed to be getting my feet through the ankles! Has anyone else had this problem? I got one pair on in the F21 dressing room, and then could NOT get them off! Seriously, I thought for a minute I was going to have to ask for some scissors. Please tell me I'm not the only one to experience this?

The other issue was that I didn't want them to look super cheap. That was also super hard to find at my price point. I didn't want them to look totally trashy, and trust me, there are a lot that do! Yikes!

So this is my pick. Super stretchy, even at the ankle. No weird gaping. High waisted, but the waistband folds down. Not crazy tacky. And best of all? The price! Just $13.80 at Forever 21! Can't beat that! I would link you to them, but the website says they're no longer available. :(

I've worn them twice since I bought them, and while I love the look, I'll admit, I did feel I tad bit self-conscious dropping Mason off at school. But hey, moms should get to dress cute too, right? Anyone else trying the leather legging trend currently? What are your favorite brands, and favorite ways to style them? I'd love to know!

What I Wore:  Forever 21 faux leather leggings (similar here), Forever 21 camo jacket, Target sweater (last year), ankle boots, and Philip Lim for Target bag.

Heart and Soul

I am LOVING the cooler weather here in Vegas! I had been waiting to be able to wear my Old Navy "Heart and Soul" sweatshirt, and we finally had a day I could throw it on! I am so glad sweatshirts are in right now! Who doesn't want comfy AND cute? Old Navy nailed it with these sweatshirts - they are SO soft and cozy! I literally did not want to take it off. I wish I had snagged every version of this when they had their sale a few weeks ago, but now they're down to just $6.97!!! What? Maybe I will stock up after all......

What's your favorite sweatshirt this season?

What I wore:  Old Navy Sweatshirt, Target jeans and ankle boots, cross body bag from
Marshall's.

Pre Halloween Fun

So this past Sunday was the annual Trick or Treat Streets at Tivoli Village, and of course any excuse for my little one to wear her costume is acceptable, so we went. We are all about anything Halloween related in our house! As a family it's one of our favorite holidays. This year I lucked out and Mason wanted to recycle one of her costumes from her ballet Spring Concert. All I had to buy was a hat and shoes and she is a court jester! I must say, it's pretty stinkin' adorable.

Back to Tivoli....Super fun, WAY crowded. But we got in, got some candy, and got out. Relatively painless. But now it's not even Halloween yet and Mason already has WAY too much candy! We're all going to get cavities!

Fabulous weekend, beautiful weather, great company. Who could ask for more? Hope yours was great too!

What I wore:  Target jeans, Sperry shoes (old), Target boys department button down, Marshall's studded cross body bag, leather bracelet from Belle & Grace (get yours here).

Weekend Wear - Better Late Than Never

If you read my last post you know that we had a SUPER busy weekend, and I am just now catching up! Better late than never, right? My hubbies birthday was Friday, but since he worked that day we celebrated Saturday. And the hubs was in a great mood because we started the day with an Aggie victory over Vanderbilt! Way to go Ags! Must have been my new maroon top that did it. ;)

AND photo bombed by my little court jester! After our Aggies won we went down to Town Square to do a little birthday shopping and have dinner. The weather was perfect, and it was a great afternoon.

I don't know about you, but whenever a decision has to be made in our family over where to eat, we go blank. There are tons of restaurants we want to try! I mean, we live in Las Vegas! But for some reason when we go out, we can never think of anything. Does that happen in your family too? No? Just us? Anyway, we were so proud of ourselves for coming up with a place we've been wanting to try for a long time. The Meatball Spot! Imagine our disappointment when we got to Town Square to find that it is closed! Not closed for good, just moving. But still closed! Such a bummer! It looked like such a cute place! Oh well. We'll just have to try it when it opens in it's new location at Planet Hollywood. I guess it makes sense that's where it's moving, since I heard a rumor Britney Spears just bought into it, and that's where her Vegas residency is going to be (which starts on my birthday - hint hint!). Bonefish Grille made a good substitute. Dinner was delicious. But I kind of still want a meatball...

What I wore: Blush skinnies, maroon blouse, and studded cross body bag all Marshall's, boots from Target, white bubble necklace from Belle & Grace (get yours here).
