Bachelor Week 3: Snooze.

Was anyone else kind of bored during last night's episode of The Bachelor? I'll be honest, I was only halfway paying attention. I was more occupied doing my nails. Not really sure what it is about this season that just isn't grabbing me like most seasons do. Maybe it will pick up. We'll see. Of course I'll still watch. I still love the show, and Juan Pablo is some good eye candy. But I could use some more drama and (manufactured) romance.

So last night single mom Cassandra got the first one on one date. I can't even remember what they did, that's how uneventful it was to me. Oh wait! Water car! Where can I get one of those things? So cool. Otherwise, although she got a rose and she and Juan Pablo seemed to get along, I just don't see it. Cassandra is a super sweet girl, but she is super young too. She should probably go ahead and go back home to her son.

The group date was next, and of course there would be a soccer themed date this season. Was anyone surprised? I got the most entertainment from this portion of the episode. I hate to see people get hurt, but soccer balls to the face is kind of hilarious. Especially when it happens over and over to the same person. I did feel really bad for Sharleen watching her fall so many times, but I also REALLY enjoyed it. Sorry. She was a great sport about it though, so props to her for that. But again, the whole soccer game was kind of a blur. Still bored. I thought Juan Pablo had the best chemistry with Andi by far, and also got along well with Nikki. Not so much with Sharleen. That was the most awkward kiss ever. And gross. And no one wants to see that. Just....ew. How embarrassing. Moving on......

While most of the girls were getting pelted with balls, Elise and Chelsie were not so patiently waiting to see which of them would get the next one on one date. I decided I really liked Elise last week, and still do, but there was a little bit of overconfidence there, no? She was way critical of Chelsie, who ended up getting the date card. If I were Elise I would be thrilled I didn't get it though, because bungee jumping? No way! I don't blame Chelsie for not wanting to do it. There is no way I would! JP was cool about the situation. I hate these "adventure" dates where they make people jump off of buildings and stuff. I'm not jumping off a building, bridge, or any other structure for anyone. But Chelsie went for it, and got a rose, so good for her.

I thought it was super funny that JP showed up to make breakfast and catch the girls with no makeup. Morning breath and puffy eyes are just not cute, but they made it work. At the pool party all the girls were annoyed with Kat, and I admit I was too. She did try a little too hard. But they are all competing for one guy, so what do these girls expect? Clare came down with a classic case of first date syndrome and Mama Renee came to the rescue. Not that exciting. But I like Renee. She's nice. Sharleen also broke down and cried to Juan Pablo, which I didn't expect. At least they covered up their sloppy kissing this time.

At the rose ceremony Lucy and some blonde girl I didn't even recognize went home. Again, boring. "Free spirit" Lucy was really growing on me. Oh well. Hopefully next week will bring something more exciting than Sharleen singing opera. Adios!

My FAV Aztec Print Cardi

I'm always looking for new ways to put together the items that are already in my closet, especially my favorites. This outfit combined three of my most worn pieces that I had never actually put together before! I'm absolutely in love with this Aztec cardigan. I wish I could wear it everyday! It's so soft and comfy, and seems to go with everything. And who doesn't love a denim shirt? I'm partial to these wine colored skinnies because they fit so well, and duh, they're maroon! Gig 'em Ags! Love representing my alma mater, even when it's not football season. :)

I added some army green booties, a fun statement necklace, and of course some arm candy to complete this look.

Totally got photo bombed by the neighbors cat!

My Week 2 Bachelor HIghlights. Bring on the Crazy!

The hubs is definitely NOT into watching the Bachelor with me, or discussing it at length during and afterward, so I decided to do another highlight post on the blog so I could express my thoughts without eye rolling! :) If you saw all the, like gazillion promos leading up to last night's episode, than you were just as excited as I was to see a classic Bachelor style meltdown! I was not disappointed! But let's start from the beginning.

Because of Sunday night's behind the scenes special, they just jumped right in last night and wasted not time getting to the first one on one date, which went to Clare. I really liked her from the first episode, and she was in my top four picks! I thought she and Juan Pablo were cute on their Winter Wonderland date. They seemed to have decent chemistry. But there wasn't a whole lot of substance! Sure, she talked opened up and talked about her dad, but then it was just hey, let's go make out in a hot tub, and suddenly she's crazy about him. Really?

Kat got the second one on one. Another one of my top 4 picks! She's adorable, and they seemed to get along great. Very natural. It was a fun, casual date, and she just went with the flow and had fun. Again, no substance, but the date was not as serious and "romantic" as Clare's. Kind of uneventful. But sign me up the next Electric Run! Looks like a blast!

Group dates to me are always WAY more entertaining than the one on ones. There's always drama, and let's face it, that's really what we tune in for. The group date last night had it's share of drama for sure! The first half of the date was cute with everyone participating in a photo shoot for charity.

I could not believe what a trooper Kelly was to let them put a bald cap on her an paint her from head to toe. She looked full on ridiculous, and just went with it! Way to go girl! I would have been completely mortified, so she gets points from me for that one! I really felt for Andi and Elise. I don't blame either one of them for not wanting to pose nude (or mostly nude). Not a cool situation to be in. Points to Lucy for trading with Elise and giving her the fire hydrant costume, not that she minded getting the extra attention! Probably not good on the job front for a first grade teacher to be posing nude on television! Elise made the right decision and after this episode she's at the top of my list. So sweet and adorable! I don't think she'll make it to the end, but I'm rooting for her anyway! I have a new personal fav! And I also want to say, Andi had a hard decision to make as well. After talking to JP she decided to go ahead and go through with it, but that couldn't have been easy. I'm sure she didn't want to come across as unprofessional on TV.  But she ended up looking gorgeous, and somehow managed to not seem whiny and annoying when she was talking to Juan Pablo about her concerns. They have great chemistry and you can tell he really likes her. I still like her a lot. If she isn't the last one standing, maybe the next Bachelorette?

At the cocktail party afterwards Nikki's one on one time stood out (another one of my top 4 picks!). Other than Victoria interrupting it seemed like it went great! They're cute together, and Juan Pablo seems to look at her differently than the other girls. She might be my new front runner! And I give JP props for giving Kelly the rose. She totally deserved it. No one else had to spend the day covered in ugly brown paint.

Alright, can we talk about Victoria now?

Oh. My. Gosh. What in the world was that? There have been some pretty epic meltdowns in Bachelor history, but I just did not understand where this one came from! Other than she is just a TERRIBLE drunk! Why was she so mad at Juan Pablo? I was seriously confused. Nikki saw it coming and tried to get her to calm down before it began, but she obviously didn't listen. Sloppy drunk is not cute on anyone. Never. It's just gross, and annoying. Kudos to JP for giving her the boot the next day before the rose ceremony. I don't think anyone will miss her.

The rose ceremony was pretty uneventful. Sharleen was a little bit less awkward than last week, and thank goodness she apologized for her hesitation accepting the first impression rose. I really don't know how to feel about her. Guess we'll have to see how things play out. I thought maybe Cassandra was going to go home after her little crying session, but Juan Pablo is just so nice, he didn't hold it against her. I don't see him letting anyone go easily though. Amy sealed her fate with that little interview session, which was kind of painful to watch, and didn't get a rose, along with Chantal, who didn't get a lot of screen time, but seemed pretty normal.

Despite the Victoria meltdown, it was kind of an uneventful episode I thought. No profound observations or predictions on my end, just my thoughts. Looking forward to more romance and drama in the weeks to come! What did y'all think about last night's episode? Who's going to go home next week?

The Bachelor is Back! Hola Juan Pablo!

Oh how I love Bachelor season! I know it's super cheesy and the drama and romance is totally manufactured, but I just can't get enough! And my hubby knows that in our house Bachelor Monday means he has dinner and bedtime duty. What can I say, I'm a sucker for reality TV!

This new season has been hyped SOOOOO much even I'm already kind of sick of hearing the name Juan Pablo! However, I'm still excited that he's the new bachelor. I will admit that after Sunday and Monday's episodes, I don't see a lot there. Yes, he's gorgeous, and the accent is to die for. But I just don't think there's a lot of depth there. Guess what? I don't care! I'm still watching! And I will enjoy it just as much as ever! So here are my highlights. I in no way want to be mean or hurt anyone's feelings, or judge. But hey, when you go on a reality TV show you're kind of putting yourself out there to be judged right? I'll be nice though....

So, who watched last night? Overall, I liked the girls as a group. There were a few I liked more than others of course. And of course there were some crazies......The limo exits were relatively unexciting and definitely less gimmicky than other seasons, thank goodness. Hardly anyone tried to speak Spanish, which was a welcome surprise. But let's start with the fashion. I feel like last night was even worse than seasons past when it comes the dresses. Why is it so hard for these girls to pick out a decent gown? It's not prom (Christy and Lauren H.), and you're not in a pageant (Lacy, Kyle, and Cassandra)! Amy J. and Danielle, just, no. I can't deal with the amount of tacky I saw. But there were some decent choices. Clare's pink dress was my favorite I think. Nikki's black studded dress, Kat's red, and honorable mention goes to Andi and Sharleen. Like I said, I don't want to be mean. All theses girls are beautiful smart girls. I just happen to disagree with some of their fashion choices. Strongly.

After just one episode I already have my frontrunners. My top four are, in no particular order, Andi, Kat, Nikki, and Clare. Nikki was actually my personal favorite (besides Molly the dog).  Super cute and seemed very down to earth. I thought Juan Pablo and Andi had the best chemistry and seemed very natural together. I give her runner up. Besides these four I also think Renee and Chelsie will stick around for a while. In my opinion JP did well with his eliminations, for the most part.

There was less crazy than I was expecting last night, which was kind of disappointing actually. I love a good train wreck. Looks like there's plenty more coming this season though, so at least we have that to look forward to, right? So who were the stand out crazies? If you watched I don't have to tell you! Wow......Amy J. with the massage table - no. And poor poor Lauren H. I felt so bad for her! You're "over" your ex? Sure you are. That was the most uncomfortable one on one convo. Yikes. Good thing she went home, because it's pretty obvious she couldn't handle it. I wanted to give her a hug. Cassandra's entrance, probably not as awkward as it was edited to look like, but still painful to watch. And then there's "free spirit" Lucy. I can't even handle it. I really wanted to like her, and I'm sure she's a very sweet person. But she needs to put on some shoes.

I have two favorite moments from last night. First, when poor confused Kylie thought he said her name. "Kat". So embarrassing. Ugh. But the very best, and I mean, the best I've seen on the Bachelor or Bachelorette that I can remember was Sharleen! She totally surprised me! Her limo exit and introduction made me think of Velma from Scooby Doo, but in a good way. And she seemed oh so uncomfortable. I so did not see her getting that first impression rose. "Sure". Oh my gosh, that was such an awkward wonderful moment, and Juan Pablo was so completely oblivious. I loved it! And she said weiner. How can you not love her? I can't wait to see how their relationship is going to play out. I can totally see her leaving the show on her own accord.

All in all this looks like an awesome season! Contemplating posting my thoughts on each weeks episode, but we'll see how that goes. Also, I can't wait for the crying on the bathroom floor.  Don't judge me.

Who are your favs from last night? I want to know!

Happy 2014 Y'all!

Let me just start this post by saying I apologize for being MIA for a while! The holiday season is super crazy to begin with, and add to that the things my family has been dealing with lately, and I haven't been feeling all that inspired. But new year clean slate, right? 2014 is going to be THE year for the Smith family! I am full of positivity and hopefulness, and feeling extremely grateful for all of the blessings in my life. I have a kind, loving, hard working husband, the most AMAZING daughter anyone could ask for, wonderful supportive parents who go WAY above and beyond for us who I will NEVER be able to thank enough, and awesome siblings that I need to see more often (gotta get my hands on the most adorable nephew ever!). Despite a couple of small occurrences, we all have our health. We have a very comfortable roof over our head, plenty of food on the table, and our faith. I am so optimistic for what this year will bring, and I'm excited to document and share it all with you! Welcome to 2014! What are your hopes for the new year?
